Hmm waste skill points on buying skills from trainers when not 5 minutes later you learn you can get them from a quest.. (I've wasted atleast 5 skill points like this)

With my first character I got all the way to Lion's Arch WITHOUT doing any missions! That's right, I trekked the icy mountains with all the minotaurs and centaurs and godknowswhat, where many have not.
I do have reasons for not doing the missions (i had a friend who i planned to do them with, and he was inactive/restarted his char many times [by the time i got to LA, i was lvl 16 and he didnt want to quest with me anymore :'( ] ). When I realised just how easy and quick it can be to go Ascalon>North Wall>Fort Ranik>Frontier Gate>Surmia>Nolani>LA... rather than Ascalon>The Breach>Piken>Diessa(i missed Nolani and Grendich)>Ascalon Foothills>Travelers Vale>Yaks Bend>Iron Horse Mine>Anvil Rock>Ice Tooth Cave>Deldrimor Bowl>Beacons Perch>Griffins Mouth>Scoundrels Rise>Gates of Kryta>North Kryta Province>Lions Arch... i feel silly! But I did EVERY quest I came across in that time, so perhaps it wasnt such a waste after all... the XP i got could have been five times what i'd get in missions.
That's my stupidest thing. Also, losing a superior monk rune because i didnt expert salvage it.
More recently, I've gone to Aurora Glades, once again without doing missions. It feels more adventurous when I'm just exploring and killing (btw, I didnt use a map when i was crossing the mountains. i just kept going, not knowing where i was headed).
And i feel sooo jibbed that I did Galrath when it was only 500xp.
One time, after i did Galrath, i was questing with another group for it. We are in the last area, but in the earlier part of it with Troll things and Minotaurs. We have a fair DP by now. ... ... and a punk W/Mo decides he can 'run' past them into the next area. I told him there is no next area, this is the last area, but nobody listens to the pretty mesmer, do they? So off he goes, he got past the minotaurs fine... i'm yelling 'come bak fool!'... and he dies. The whole effort failed eventually

It's not really me who did the thing, but that was quite funny. One of my guildmate tells me they need an elem for fissure, I said why not.. went to TOA and get in the group. First thing I say is don't start now, I'm putting skills on my bar (i was in a solo build), I had time to remove all skills except for Mending and Aura Of Restauration, I also had time to add Restore life.. and someone started the mission.
So basically, I can heal, cast mending.. and ahumm.. aura of restauration is pretty useless if you don't cast! I was feeling kind of useless

so there i am, back in Lion's Arch after a satisfying and profitable day's questing. i'm your standard Conjuring Ranger, lugging bagsful of loot and packing my favourite max-dmg Shocking Longbow of Marksmanship.
So i roll up to the vendor, identify all the magical stuff in my packs and double-click on the first item, a non-magical wand. *hmmm* oh yeah of course you need to actually click in the trade window to sell stuff. stupid old me. *click, click, click, click, click* ok all done now to log out for the nigh... hey, why is there a non-magical wand in my hands where my Shocking Longbow of Marksmanship should be? and where IS my Shocking Longbow of Marksmanship.
little tip everyone: Double-clicking on an item in your pack or bag equips it to your hands, swapping places with your favourite (and, believe me, very expensive) equipped weapon. please, please, please pay attention at the vendor's.
needless to say that day's questing was rather less profitable than i had hoped.

What? You go from Nolani to Yak's Bend then you have to walk to Borlis Pass and then do the mission and then do the Frost Gate and then walk from beacon's pearch to Lion's Arch, not Nolani to Lion's Arch
You make it sound way too easy/fast.
Let's see.. One time I was about to try and run my guild to Droknar's Forge when I decided to go and buy some better running armor. Not paying much attention to what I was doing, I bought a chest peice and guantlets for the same armor I already had; though my current gauntlets had a major rune in them. *Sort of* wasted about 5k in total resources
Making a split second to decide if I wanted to delete my E/me and make a Mo/w, I wasted 9k and 12k worth of armor and who knows what else was on that character. Oh well, I'll make it back

Well you don't have to do very many of the missions at all -- I started walking my Mo/R at Ascalon City and he's about 4000xp away from lvl17 in Ventari's Refuge at the moment. The only missions I've done so far are Ranik, Northern Wall, and Surmia, and those only so I could be done with that part of the game (although I still have $%#@& Nolani ).
It's been a blast so far too - highly recommended! My map looks really funny though.. just this thin snake that winds its way through the blur.
Stupid Things: I've done plenty of stupid things so far, but my worst would probably be after I saw how cool some armour a warrior buddy of mine was wearing looked after he used dye remover on it. Thought I'd try it on my Druid's Armour, so I bought a bottle and put it on the chestpiece.
BAD idea. (with apologies to any of you who may be running around like that) It looks ridiculous. Some sort of snot-yellow Fauntleroy motif.
Well that was bad, but erm.... ... somehow I convinced myself that doing the entire thing might stand a chance of looking half-way decent. Used up all the rest of my money doing that instead of just buying a new chestpice. Yeah.

I was standing in a swamp getting poisoned, thinkin it was some really long spell put on me, everyones shouting at me 2 move an i'm jus standing there wondering wht the hells going on.
Not realising you can use skill points
Thinking i can make a profit from buyin dye off the trader when it was going cheap, and selling it at a slightly higher price, ended up not working an i just had tons of orange and yellow dye in me storage.

I got lucky with a drop for a gold max dmg zealous shortbow, trouble was that it was "Of Charrslaying". I decided that what I'd do was to supplement it with the "Of fortitude" bowgrip from my equipped gold longbow.
One expert salvage and a pile of wood planks later, I spent the rest of the night beating my head against the wall saying "Stupid stupid stupid" to myself.

Not stacking my dyes. putting them in separate slots. lol I did sell off dyes a long time ago and had like 20 some black dyes. well back in the beta I tried to stack the dyes and ended up mixing them, and I never tried it again... so in the end I put each one ina separate slot. I found today they are stack-able. Major D'OH...
lol Oh well.. lol We all have our Blondie moments I guess...

Since I have noticed that black dye is now around 20K I used mine a few weeks ago on my Droknar's Monk Armor (I had two) and then realized that it did not turn all of the armor black....only half of it. Now I look Black and Tan.
I also used my silver dye twice on the same foot armor.
Stoopid me....well it is only Monopoly money anyways.

Founded a guild early may, thinking it would be easy to get some quality people on board and hit at least 20 members after 3 months.
